It can be difficult to put into words how much we all cherish our cats. They’re part of our families. Meow Masterpieces Cardboard Cat House was developed out of that love for all cats. We’ve selected the best materials, created the most functional shape and chosen the best manufacturing partner for the happiness, health, and well-being of all cats.
Materials for Meow Masterpieces Cat House
Cats can be quite rough on cat houses. Therefore, the materials we select have to be robust as well as healthy for your cat.
One of the most crucial decisions we’ve made was to print the Meow Masterpieces designs without using of any harmful or industrial inks. The graphics of Meow Masterpieces and all of our cat houses, also called cat scratcher houses, is printed using cat safe-soy ink. Because soy ink is renewable, it's better for the environment and healthier for your cat.
Non-Toxic Glues
Cats need to scratch to maintain their physical and mental wellness. Therefore, a sturdy, high-quality cat scratcher is an essential component of any cardboard cat house. Only non-toxic glues are used to construct the scratcher we created for the Meow Masterpieces scratcher house. Scratchers often get a lot of use over time. So, it's crucial to make sure your cat's scratcher is safe and healthy.
Our scratcher was also made to fit perfectly in the Meow Masterpieces Cat House. The cat scratchers are integrated into the cat house design. This ensures the scratcher will stay put even under intensive use.
And we've made a replacement scratcher so you can keep the cat house while just switching out the scratcher when it becomes worn out. The new scratcher is made to fit in the cat housing after the cat house has been assembled.
Cat-tested, Recycled Corrugated Cardboard
The corrugated cardboard for our cat houses was also one of our most crucial decisions. It had to be robust, good for the environment and healthy for your cat.
We knew we required corrugated cardboard that could withstand cats playing, sitting, and jumping onto the top of the cat house because the Meow Masterpieces is shaped like a cube.
In the end, we found a sturdy corrugated cardboard capable of withstanding even the harshest play.
We also felt that it was crucial to select recycled cardboard. Purchasing cardboard that has been recycled rather than regular first use cardboard costs us more money. However, we wanted both your cat and the environment to benefit from your cat's new cat house.
The Style
The cardboard cat house market is filled with odd shapes. Some are designed to resemble delivery trucks, spacecraft or even airplanes. And when designing our cardboard cat houses, we examined those and other similar shapes.
We found that other than the curiosity of the odd shape, those style cat houses proved to be of minimal use for most cats. They lack sufficient space for cats to turn around, sit up, scratch, groom, or perform other actions that would make the cat house multifunctional.
We were determined that the cat house we wanted needed to be a space where your cat could play, hide their toys, take a break, and spend time in a location where they feel safe and comfortable in addition to being able to scratch and sleep.
We found that the cube shape has the greatest potential for a variety of uses.
There are certain cat houses, such as the narrow cottage-style cat house with pitched roofs, that may be taller at the top of the steepled roof. However, because they are long and narrow, they make it difficult for cats to turn around, play, or even sit up except one part of the cat house.
Additionally, we intended the Meow Masterpieces Cardboard Cat House to promote cats' health and welfare. And a big part of that is playing. Therefore, we made the cat house big enough and shaped such that your cat can play with you and other pets. The expansive arched entryway and the thoughtfully positioned play holes on each side are intended to promote interaction, play and bonding.
Making the space multifunctional also increases the likelihood that your cat will use it frequently. Your cat will value it more as their own personal place the more ways they can use it.
The Manufacturing
We know cardboard cat houses built by huge chain stores and international corporations are available for less money. That’s okay. We don't want to be the cheapest. We don't want your cat’s scratcher house to be just another item in a massive company’s product list. We only want to offer the best.
So, we needed to choose a manufacturing partner who would exclusively work with premium materials created especially for cats' wellbeing. After a thorough search and the evaluation of many samples, we decided on a manufacturing partner who shares our passion for cats and only produces cat products. Their facilities and operations are all inspected and meet all U.S. and international standards.
And they love cats.
Of course, There is Also the Classic Art
Every cat is a classic and a work of art. They’re creatures with a variety of moods. Sometimes they’re as delicate as Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, other times a mischievous as a poker player and yet other times as contemplative as Rodin’s The Thinker.
Meow Masterpieces Cardboard Cat House allows your cat and their many moods to become classic works of art.
We hope both you and your cat love it.

Anyone who has been around cats knows cats love boxes. But why? Dogs don’t seem to care. You don’t see humans crawling into the tightest spaces they can find. So why cats? Read on to learn the five primary reasons cats love boxes.
First, your cat might have nothing more to fear in life than a late breakfast, but they don’t know that. Hiding out in an enclosed space, such as one of our cardboard cat houses, makes them feel safe and has been shown to reduce stress-related behaviors and lower damaging hormone levels.
Second, like a teenager that yells “You don’t understand” before slamming their bedroom door and retreating for hours to their own space, cat play boxes, especially if they include a cat scratcher, provide an excellent place for a cat to go to avoid conflict and calm down.
Third, cats love to be warm! Your furry friend’s thermoneutral zone is generally thought to be between 86 and 97 degrees Fahrenheit. So, while you might be toasty with a thermostat set to 72 degrees, your cat likely isn’t. BThick, corrugated cardboard, particularly those that are enclosed, help reflect back a cat’s own body heat so they can curl up in comfort.
Fourth, sleep. Blissful sleep. Cats sleep … a lot. But even asleep, survival remains their primary concern. So, they like to sleep in a place that is both hidden away and allows them to spring immediately into action if they sense danger.
Fifth, and maybe the most important reason your furry friend loves boxes, particularly a Cat Box Classics Cardboard Cat House, is that they are just super fun for cats. It’s hard for humans to understand just how much fun a cardboard play box can be for cats. The strategically placed play holes in our cat houses allow cats to “hide” and stalk passersby. They can even pounce when the time is right. And few things are as alluring to a cat as a play wand or ribbon dangled enticingly just outside their box! Our integrated cat scratchers also allow your cat to use their box to stretch, groom their claws, and of course, scratch to their heart’s content.
So whether it’s to sleep, play, scratch or just have some alone time, cats love cardboard boxes!
